June! The long anticipated month is upon us. This is the month of our Shake The Dust regional final, taking place at The Barbican Theatre on Friday 15 June. Five youth slam teams from across Plymouth will be going head-to-head after months of practice and creativity with our poet coaches.
The teams are in for a treat I tell you, with a day packed full of workshops, open mic opportunities and plenty of rehearsal time before taking to the stage. We also have some fantastic regional and national judges, plus guest poets to tantalise and inspire!
The winning team will be heading to Southbank Centre for our Shake the Dust National Final Weekend, spread over three days from 5 to 7 July. Massive place on the South Bank. Why not make a weekend of it and head to London for what is set to be a most memorable jam-packed event?
With all the excitement of Shake The Dust, events are taking a small rest over July. This is short lived and we will be back rocking your literal world in August for FORKED, with none other than Kat Francois! More to follow in next month’s addition.
Finally, a big thanks to all the poets and audiences who made FORKED and Gallery Sessions in May such a success. My favorite bit of feedback: "That made we want to start writing". Well, what are you waiting for?!
